Having trouble starting Thunderbird in FreeBSD?

Getting the xdm authorization key matches an existing client error when you try to start Thunderbird the first time?
I don’t know if this is the right way, but I did this.
Logged in under a normal user
Opened xterm
$ xhost +
$ thunderbird &
$ xhost -

After that it allowed me to start with no problem.
